A group of Indian students have created a new street workout they hope will bring them millions.
The Alphapack Workout, involves a group of nine students headed by Kunal Mahour, 20, who is also know as the The Steel.
It is also called a ‘callisthenic workout’, which involves exercises containing a variety of gross motor movements; often rhythmical and generally without equipment or machine.
‘I was scrolling through the internet one day in 2014,’ Kunal said. ‘I was bored of going to the gym and spotted some workout videos on something called street workout. I had never heard of it before. India is not aware of anything like this yet so I decided to bring this new form of workout to my country.’
Kunal got his friends involved and the group began training sessions together.
‘We started training together in parks and on streets in Delhi and then we got other guys interested,’ Kunal added. ‘I decided to make a team in February this year. We became a team of nine members and then we started making videos and spreading our name on social media. Then things took off.’
‘Now we can’t go a day without meeting up, we love it.’
Rudy Sontoloyo, 33, is from Singapore, and works as a cabin crew member often stopping in Delhi for days at a time. He is the eldest member of the group and approached Alphapack after watching their videos online.
Kunal said: ‘His work often brings him to Delhi so he joins us when he’s here.’
‘This is what is great about our group, we’re very diverse.’
The group appeared on India’s Got Talent, last year. and managed to reach the quarter finals, by training religiously for four hours a day without any professional help.
However, Alphapack now hope to one day open their own academy and teach others, but not before representing India at the World Championships.
Kunal said: ‘Our families feel it’s a waste of time. They’re fine if we kept it as a hobby but the moment I mention a career they ignore me.
‘Some people think it’s a circus act which is quite annoying but we will not let it deter us. We’ll achieve out dream one day and hold a World Championship trophy in street workout for India.’
